Also my xbox sometimes says the disc is unreadable. I know this may seem stupid, but is there a correlation between the two x360key e3 chip xk3y . I get the game to work more often then it says the disc is unreadable, but I don't want to drop $20 on a new elder scrolls game if the lag is something everyone experiences, especially since this will be the third time buying the game. Do you think I should buy another disc. I have all the latest updates by the way.

Edited by Winsort - 19Nov2011 at 3:14am

In addition to a medical degree, he held a degree in Economics from Tokyo University. Author: iron tiger
Subject: SPM newbie with a question
Posted: 19Oct2010 at 2:29am

Greetings! It is good to be among you all :)Though I study northern preying mantis at the moment(8 step style)..SPM has always intruigued me. Can someone please answer the following questions:

1.) Do the 4 main families of SPM emphasize the phoenix eye fist?

2.) Is there a list of sifus/masters of SPM in the USA(and would someone please be kind enough to point me in the right direction)

3.) I've read that the "phoenix eye fist" style is the same as SPM. There is a book called "Secrets of Phoenix eye fist kung fu" by Grandmaster Cheong Cheng Leong and Mark Wiley..which lists these forms:
KAI SAN CHIEN (OPENING THE MOUNTAIN)
ER SHIH SZE TIEN (TWENTY FOUR POINTS,NUMBER ONE)
ER SHIH SZE TIEN (TWENTY FOUR POINTS,NUMBER TWO)
HU CHAO CHIEN (TIGER CLAW,ASCENDING TIGER)
HU CHAO CHIEN (TIGER CLAW,DESCENDING TIGER)
LOONG HU CHIEN (DRAGON AND TIGER)
TA CHOONG KOONG (STAMPING INSIDE,THE PALACE BEING SURROUNDED)
MEI HUA CHIEN (PLUM BLOSSOM)
LIEN HUANG TUEI(CONTINUOUS KICKS)
TONG TZE PAI KWAN YIN(BOY PAYING RESPECTS TO THE GODDESS OF MERCY)
YIN YAN ER SIEN KU (TWO POSITIVE AND NEGATIVE HEAVENLY LADIES)
TA OOH LI (STRENGTH PERFORMANCE)
SHIH PA LOHAN CHIEN (EIGHTEEN HANDS OF THE LOHAN)
FOONG YEN TIN SUN CHIEN (PHOENIX EYE FIST GUARDING THE MOUNTAIN)
SHIH TA HSING HSIAN(TEN ANIMALS FIGHTING MOVEMENTS)
KUNG SOW TWEE CHAI (PREARRANGED SPARRING,SET ONE)
KUNG SOW TWEE CHAI (PREARRANGED SPARRING ,SET TWO)Can someone tell me if these forms are in any of the 4 families of Southern Preying Mantis? Unless Chukka phoenix eye is in fact a different system? Thank you.Best Wishes to all,SPM Newbie

1-"Assuming that Jook Lum, chow gar, chu gar, and Iron ox are what you are referring to as the 4 main families- Each one of the forementioned martial arts use the phoenix fist. Now the exact magnitude or importance of use that single shaped hand is probably hard to say because there are many hand shapes utilized in spm -open and closed hands and some a sort of mix. The answer to your question is likely best answered by a specific instructor of the art and their understanding and prefernces.
since, I know very little of other than a single spm system (perhaps two) I know that my own preferences will likely be different than the next person. You learn many hand forms and techniques- one at a time is common practice.

2
-not knowing where you are located -it is hard to refer you to experts in spm. within the usa I do not know of any whom practice iron ox spm, few whom do chu gar, and some do chow gar. the majority of usa spm players and sifu are mostly jook lum practitioners. There are many good people out there whom are sharing the once secret art of jook lum to the public- a general list without regard for importance nor any hieirachy would be in NY sifu james Cama- representative of this site, sifu Norman chin, sifu Soo, and others. In PA there is Louie Jak Mans school in phlly chinatown, I teach in the western suburbs, and there are others such as sifu russel chell of Henry Poo Yee's organization in New Jersey. Most Jook lum is found up and down the east coast. in Houstin tx there is the headquaters of Poo Yee and in MN are students whom learned at the school of Master Gin Foon Mark whom teach. Additionally, there are students of bamboo temple dot com's site whom instruct such as sifu gamboa whom I believe is located in OH or indiana.

3-
I know this book but do not own it and have never seen this list of sequences - I have however seen footage of gm cheong and he moves very well his skills is very refined but I could not say it is like or 'not' like spm- it is kung fu and good basics cannot be overlooked so the similiarities in terms of usage and movement is more similiar than different even though there is no emphasis on 'mantis' in cheongs art 'chuka/ chu ga shaolin/siu lum)

Please remember that forms or sequences are part of the 'art' or 'fighting' or learning the martial art- the sequences or drills teach skills and at a basic level are very important to excel in any art such as spm- but- all forms/sequences are made up by 'man' -they are personal /they can be broken into smaller parts or one can create infinite variations of supplemetal sequences or forms. Less is more and in spm - this is an important adage.

Edited by iron tiger - 19Oct2010 at 2:31am
